FEMALE FAQ’S

DOES WAXING HURT?

Unfortunately removing your hair from its follicles isn’t going to be an utterly comfortable experience, however, the process is minorly painful! There are also different reasons which may make it slightly more uncomfortable, if you are stressed, overly tired, not feeling well or close to your menstrual cycle. My techniques and high-quality training with the best in the Industry will ensure it’s as painless and quick as can be. I recommend popping a couple of paracetamols 30mins before your appointment.

HOW LONG DOES MY HAIR NEED TO BE?

Your hair should be NO shorter than a grain of rice! Wax cannot pick up your hairs if they are too short.

Regular waxes – you should have a least 4 weeks growth from your last appointment.

Newbies – please allow 3 weeks hair growth from the last time you used removal creams and shaved.

If you’ve never been waxed before and have a big event coming up such as your wedding, holiday, etc i would recommend receiving waxing services a month before your special day or event to see how your skin reacts. If everything is fine, we can then reschedule another appointment closer to the time of the appointment.

SHALL I TRIM BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT?

NO!! That’s what I’m here for. You may run the risk of over trimming which will affect the results of your wax. If it’s too long, don’t worry, inwill trim if necessary.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET IT DONE?

This varies from client to client. Generally, it’s a 4-5-week wax routine however some of my clients can wait for 6-8weeks.

WILL MY HAIR GROW BACK THICKER, STRONGER, DARKER?

Absolutely NOT! Quite the opposite. Waxing does not cause you to grow more hair follicles. In fact, if you become a regular client you will notice that your hair will become quite sparse and not as coarse. When hair is shaved, it is cut off at the thickest part, which is why you get stubble the next day. A properly waxed hair is removed from the root and when the hair starts to grow back it’s a new hair, very fine at the tip, so NO stubble.

The more you wax, the less hair grows back!!!

CAN I SHAVE IN BETWEEN WAXES??

NO NO NO – Resist the urge to pick up them razors!! Do NOT shave between waxing appointments. It disrupts the hair growth cycle resulting in more hair at your next appointment.

CAN I GET WAXED IF IM PREGNANT?

Absolutely! It is safe to wax but you might find your skin is more sensitive to it – thanks to the hormones! I would recommend that you start waxing early on in the pregnancy instead of leaving it to the last minute before your due date. Sensitivity will have reduced over the months of your pregnancy making each waxing visit less painful for you.

CAN I GET WAXED ON MY PERIOD?

Yes of course! Just know the facts a) you will be more sensitive b) you must wear a clean tampon c) pop a couple of paracetamol or ibuprofen 30mins before your appointment.

INTIMATE PROCEDURE!

Ladies – The Intimate waxing is an ALL OFF procedure. No knickers!! I want to be able to see all the hair. It’s understandable that there will be a little embarrassment, especially for new clients as you may feel slightly uncomfortable being so exposed. Rest assured, I have seen it all before, it’s my job, it’s the norm, I won’t even bat an eyelid!!

WHEN CAN’T I GET A WAX?

Almost everyone can get waxed and we can work around most conditions but unfortunately, we cannot wax if you fall under any of these categories

  • you are using Retinol products i.e. Retin A, Differin gel or any other Retinoid acne product.
  • Accutane/Roaccutane (a treatment for acne) wait for at least 6months after you have finished the prescription before waxing.
  • Sunburn
